The Amble Inn, formerly The Hunter’s Lodge, is a Craftsman-style log cabin motor lodge built in 1946. We are located on the Blue Star Highway in Douglas, Michigan – just a couple of minutes from the Lake Michigan shoreline.
In September of 2014, we (Jeff and Anne Mathieu) became the new owners of this historic property. We have been working on refreshing and refurbishing all the guestrooms in a way that will honor the authentic rustic style of the inn.
Our Guest Lounge is now complete in the Breakfast Barn. In addition to breakfast, guests are welcome to use the lounge as a gathering place. A gas grill is available for guests use, and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for couples or groups.
The Saugatuck, Douglas and Fennville areas offer many activities to enjoy year round. The beauty of the Lake Michigan shoreline is complemented by the unique shops, galleries, restaurants and farmer’s markets which are abundant in the area. While summer is thought of as the “peak” season, the other seasons offer plenty of activities as well, including color tours, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.
We are open year round to accommodate visitors, and are conveniently located just south of exit 36 from I-196 on the Blue Star Hwy.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Michigan's Art Coast!
